Metal Roof Barn

The barn is handmade from western red cedar and recycled metal this one-of-a-kind Birdhouse is completely functional.  We make every effort to follow Audubon guidelines to build a birdhouse that keeps the nesting birds safe from weather and prey.  Here are a few examples of our well-constructed birdhouse.

• The size entrance and its relationship to the floor of the birdhouse help keep the nest safe from predators.
• Drainage and ventilation holes keep the birds dry and cool.
• Cleanout at the back of the birdhouse helps you cleanup after the birds have flown the nest.

The look is especially important at New Brookland Bird, we make every effort to surround the good function of the birdhouse with a beautiful finish.  Always inspired by shape, color, and texture we constantly look for architectural elements that narrate a moment in time.  Our strong belief is that you should enjoy watching both the birdhouse and its occupants.  Below are some examples of materials we use.

Finally, the birdhouse stand is the other component to a great birdhouse.  If you are serious about getting birds to nest in your birdhouse a great bird stand is important.  When you are finding a good location for your birdhouse you may want to consider the following.

• Find an open area that is clear of underbrush and over hanging limbs.
• Do not place a birdhouse close to a bird feeder or any heavy traffic areas in your garden.
• The height of your birdhouse may attract different types of birds, but never place the birdhouse less than 5’ from the ground.
